10 Ways to Expedite Your Move and Save Money

Want your moving day to be less stressful?

Use these expert tips and let us do the heavy lifting.

1. MAKE SURE ALL BOXES ARE TAPED SHUT AND LABELED

It’s a smart idea to label your boxes with the location of where they are going to in your new space, like ‘master bedroom’ or ‘downstairs bathroom’. Our movers cannot take any boxes that are open and unsealed so doing this before they arrive will save you time.

2. SHOVEL AND SALT

If snow has fallen please shovel or salt your sidewalks. This will help your move start on time. If you are unable, please let your movers know as soon as possible.

3. HAVE A PET PLAN

Before your movers arrive make sure all pets are put in a location that is out of the way. The best place is off premise

4. PACK YOUR BULBS AND SHADES

Lamps should have bulbs and shades boxed up.

5. EMPTY DRAWERS AND SHELVES

Please make sure the contents of dressers, bookshelves, consoles, and nightstands are emptied. This is for the safety of our movers and to protect the integrity of your furniture.

6. DISSASSEMBLY PREFERRED

If you are able to, please disassemble furniture, like beds, and place all applicable parts in a labeled ziplock bag.

7. WHERE DO WE PARK?

Parking is important, we need at least 40’ of space for our truck and ramp. If a driveway is not available, the closer to your house the parking spot is the better. If a truck is not able to get within 20-30’ of a door (or garage door) an on-site estimate is recommended.

8. TELL MANAGEMENT

If you live in an apartment or other residential building it helps to notify management of the date and time of your move. An elevator should be reserved and padding should be provided by your building. Please let us know if there are any other policies regarding moving in your building pertinent to us.

9. KNOW WHAT CAN’T GO

We cannot transport alcohol, flammable items, fire arms or ammunition in the truck. Mowers, snowblowers etc. should be emptied of gas, and propane tanks (for grills or otherwise) are prohibited. Similarly anything living cannot be transported on the truck, like pets or children.

10. WHEN IN DOUBT ROUND UP

Nobody likes surprises when it comes to the final bill, if you have to guess make an overestimation, you will only be charged for services rendered.
